An investigation by Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit has led to the seizure of illegal drugs, a vehicle and other items connected to drug trafficking. Two people from Bluewater are now facing charges.
Police say the investigation led officers to a property in Bluewater earlier this month. On Tuesday, November 25th, officers stopped a vehicle in Huron East and arrested two people. During the stop, police seized what is believed to be cocaine, Canadian money, other offence-related items and the vehicle involved.
The next day, on November 26th, officers executed a search warrant at a home on MacTavesh Street in Bayfield. Police say more items and Canadian currency were seized during the search. The total street value of the illegal drugs is estimated at more than $5,000. Police say the value of the additional seized property, including weigh scales, a phone, cash and the vehicle, is more than $51,900.
As a result, a 39-year-old of Bluewater and 44-year-old of Bluewater have both been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. They have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
