TODAY: EarlyON – Vanastra 10:00 am – 11:30 am Vanastra Connection Centre located within the Vanastra Community Christian Reform Church at 50 Fifth Avenue, Vanastra. We will be located in the Gym (come in the front doors, turn left, down the hall at the end). For Parents/Caregivers with children 0-6 years. Connect with other families and EarlyON Facilitators, engage in play-based activities, gross motor/active play, sing interactive songs, ask questions & chat about topics of interest to parents/caregivers. Children will benefit from the routine of a tidy-up time and songs and story at the end of the program. General safety
- Children aged 10 and under must wear a CSA-certified hockey helmet at all times.
- Children must be actively supervised by a responsible person. Children are not to be left unattended.
- Leave the ice surface when resurfacing maintenance is taking place. Keep exits clear and do not sit on the dasher boards. Before getting on the rink, look for oncoming skaters.
- Skate at a sensible and safe speed in the same direction as other skaters. Do not stop where you obstruct other skaters.
- Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on the ice if the operator is wearing skates. Wheels must be cleaned of sand and salt before entering the ice surface.
- The middle of the ice surface is reserved for children and less confident skaters,
The following is not permitted:
- Shoes on the ice surface. Skates are required while on the ice surface.
- Games such as tag or racing, throwing snow on ice, foul language, and inappropriate behaviours.
- The use of headsets, cell phones, or handheld electronic devices while skating.
- Carrying children on shoulders or in arms while skating.
- Skating while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or other control impairing substances.
- Entering the ice when resurfacing maintenance is taking place.
- Power skating, figure skating and skating backwards.
- Chairs, sleds, pylons and other obstructions.
- Food and drinks.
- Pucks and sticks.
