On Tuesday, December 16, Norfolk County Council recognized three exceptional community leaders for their remarkable contributions to the region. Dr. JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education for the Grand Erie District School Board, and Constable Andrew Gamble of Norfolk County OPP (West Region) were celebrated for their leadership in the PROSE program.
This initiative, which brings students and police together across Brantford, Norfolk, Brant, and Haldimand, earned the 2025 Ontario Justice Education Network Chief Justices’ Award for its outstanding work in building trust and fostering positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
Dr. Roberto and Constable Gamble have demonstrated a strong commitment to mentorship, education, and community engagement, helping to create a safer and more supportive environment for students.
Their dedication has strengthened connections between schools and local police, providing youth with opportunities to learn, ask questions, and develop mutual understanding.
Council also recognized Dan Johnson as the recipient of the Tatjana Burcul Citizen of the Year Award.
Johnson’s cross-country cycling journey, undertaken in memory of his late son Luke, raised nearly $500,000 for the Norfolk-Haldimand Community Hospice.
His extraordinary efforts have provided critical funding for hospice care, supporting patients and families during difficult times, and inspiring the community through his perseverance, compassion, and commitment to service.
Norfolk County Council highlighted all three honorees as shining examples of the county’s community spirit.
Leaders like Dr. Roberto, Constable Gamble, and Dan Johnson exemplify how dedication, collaboration, and empathy can make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.
Through their work, they have strengthened the bonds within the community and set a standard for leadership, service, and civic responsibility that will continue to inspire others.
