Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater, and southern Huron County as strong winds move through the region today.
Wind gusts of 70 to 90 kilometres per hour are expected, beginning this morning and easing later this afternoon or early this evening. Showers and a risk of thunderstorms are moving into the area this morning, and some of these storms could bring wind gusts between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour.
A cold front is expected to pass through the region later today, which could bring another round of strong winds. Gusts could reach up to 90 kilometres per hour before conditions begin to improve. Winds are expected to weaken from west to east as the day goes on.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and use caution while travelling, especially in high-profile vehicles. Power outages and fallen tree branches are also possible during periods of strong wind.
