The annual Festive RIDE campaign has wrapped up, and police say the results show a strong focus on keeping roads safe during the holiday season.
From November 20th, 2025, to January 1st, 2026, Ontario Provincial Police West Region officers carried out 3,095 Festive RIDE spot checks across 13 detachments. This marked the highest number of Festive RIDE events held in the West Region in the past five years.
By the end of the campaign, 269 drivers were charged with impaired driving and another 40 drivers received warn-range suspensions. Across the province, OPP officers laid 1,268 impaired driving charges and issued 150 warn-range suspensions during more than 11,000 RIDE checks in OPP-patrolled areas.
Police say the increased enforcement made a difference when compared to last year. During the 2024–2025 Festive RIDE campaign, West Region officers conducted fewer spot checks and laid 187 impaired driving charges along with 19 warn-range suspensions.
Anyone who suspects an impaired driver is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately to help keep roads safe for everyone.
