Environment Canada has issued a Yellow Advisory for blowing snow for the Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater, and southern Huron County areas.
The advisory was issued late Thursday morning and is expected to remain in effect through tonight. Forecasters say lake effect flurries combined with strong winds could lead to significantly reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow. Local snowfall amounts of five to ten centimetres are possible by tonight.
Wind gusts could reach up to 60 kilometres an hour, making conditions worse in open and wind-exposed areas.
Drivers are being asked to avoid non-essential travel if possible until conditions improve. If you must be on the road, slow down, turn on your headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles.
Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on weather updates and alerts as conditions may change.
