The Clinton Raders Junior C hockey team is getting ready for its first season after relocating from Goderich.
Team president and interim general manager Ryan Olmstead says the move has been in the works for some time.
Olmstead says recruiting players to Goderich had become difficult, especially with many players attending school in larger nearby cities. While the Goderich community is disappointed, he says there is understanding about the decision.
The move to Clinton was officially approved in December. Olmstead says Clinton was chosen because of strong community support and its location.
He says support from the Clinton community has already been overwhelming.
He says not only was the team able to fill many executive positions, but may volunteers have stepped up to help with game day opportunities.
The team will begin play in the 2026–27 season, starting in September 2026, and will compete in the Pollock Division. Home games and practices will be held at the Central Huron Community Complex. Olmstead says the Municipality of Central Huron has been very supportive by providing ice time and team facilities.
Player recruitment will begin June 1st, when the new hockey season officially opens.
The team is still looking to fill one role, director of equipment, and is asking anyone interested to reach out through its social media channels.
Olmstead says fans can expect exciting updates in the coming months, including a refreshed team logo, sponsorship opportunities, and fundraising events. He says community support will be key as the Clinton Raders prepare to take the ice next season.
