A 16-year-old has been charged after a weapons-related incident in Delhi, Norfolk County, authorities say.
On Sunday, February 2, at approximately 7:36 p.m., Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an incident on Northern Avenue involving a group of individuals. During the interaction, one person allegedly brandished an edged weapon, but no injuries were reported.
Police located the suspect at the scene and took them into custody without incident. The youth, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a sentence.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date. The OPP reminds the public that investigations into weapons-related incidents are taken seriously and urges anyone with information about similar activity to contact them.
