Air Canada, WestJet, and Air Transat have suspended flights to Cuba as the country faces a worsening energy crisis and aviation fuel shortages.
Air Canada says fuel may no longer be commercially available at Cuban airports as of February 10 and is dispatching special repatriation flights to bring home roughly 3,000 Canadians.
The situation stems from U.S. sanctions under President Donald Trump, including tariffs on countries supplying oil to Cuba.
Global Affairs Canada has upgraded its travel advisory, warning of unpredictable disruptions to flights, power, and essential services.
Air Transat has suspended all flights until April 30, while WestJet and Air Canada say they will continue monitoring conditions before resuming service.
