Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater, and Southern Huron County.
Blowing snow is expected to begin this afternoon, with freezing drizzle possible later tonight.
Strong southwest winds with gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour are forecast to develop this afternoon. The winds may cause blowing and drifting snow, leading to significantly reduced visibility. In open and wind-prone areas, visibility could drop to near zero at times.
Freezing drizzle may develop this evening, creating icy and slippery conditions on roads, sidewalks, and other surfaces. The freezing drizzle is expected to end by Saturday morning.
Drivers are being warned to prepare for quickly changing and worsening travel conditions. Residents are encouraged to use caution and continue monitoring forecasts and weather alerts from Environment Canada.
