Lambton Heritage Museum is inviting photographers and nature lovers to take part in a new sunset photo contest on now until March 8th.
The contest encourages people to submit their best photos of Lake Huron sunsets. Winning entries will be featured in the Huron Glow Collection as part of the upcoming Bluewaterland exhibition, which runs from May 13th to October 18th.
One grand prize winner and two honourable mentions will be selected. The grand prize winner will receive a $50 Tourism Sarnia-Lambton gift certificate. The two honourable mentions will each receive a $25 gift certificate. Up to ten additional photos will also be chosen for display in the exhibition. All selected photographers will receive a free family pass to the museum to see their photo on display, as well as a framed copy of their picture once the exhibition ends.
Photos can be taken in any season and may include sunsets, coastlines, people, or animals. All pictures must have been taken in Lambton County, and each person may submit only one photo. Entries will be judged based on colour, composition, and creativity. Submissions can be made through the online form at lambtonmuseums.ca/sunset.
Dana Thorne, Curator and Supervisor at Lambton Heritage Museum, says Lake Huron sunsets are a special experience. She says the goal is to capture that feeling for museum visitors through the Bluewaterland exhibition.
