Last Thursday, the Huron Chamber of Commerce held a casual “Get to Know the Chamber” event in Exeter, giving local business owners a chance to meet Chamber board members and learn more about what the organization does across Huron County.
Colin Carmichael, Executive Director of the Chamber, said the event allowed attendees to drop in, ask questions, and connect with other business owners.
Conversations during the event focused on the opportunities a countywide Chamber provides, such as addressing workforce development, immigration, supply chain, and trade issues—topics smaller, local chambers may not have the resources to tackle.
He emphasized that these informal gatherings are important for building relationships.
The Chamber plans to host more events throughout the year, tailoring them to what local businesses need, whether that’s breakfast meetings, after-hours gatherings, or mid-day sessions. The Chamber is also working closely with the Exeter BIA and the municipality to plan upcoming activities.
Looking ahead, Carmichael highlighted the Chamber’s upcoming Annual General Meeting on March 10th, which will provide an update on the Chamber’s work over the past year and plans for the future. Other signature events include the corporate challenge in June, a charity golf tournament in July, and the annual awards gala in November.
Carmichael said the goal of all Chamber activities is simple.
