Residents in parts of Huron County are being invited to learn more about a proposed road improvement project and share their feedback through an upcoming online public information session.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has hired Parsons Inc. to carry out a design and environmental assessment study for possible intersection improvements at Highway 21 and County Road 83. The study area includes the Municipality of Bluewater, the Municipality of South Huron, and the County of Huron.
Officials say the project is being studied to help improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection while preparing for future traffic volumes. The work includes preliminary design, detailed design, and an environmental assessment that will look at possible impacts and ways to reduce them.
As part of the process, the project team will host an online Public Information Centre to update the community on the study. The session will give residents the chance to learn about the project, review the transportation needs being studied, and see the preferred plan for the intersection improvements. It will also outline potential impacts, mitigation measures, and the next steps in the project.
Information from the Public Information Centre will be posted online beginning March 18th. Residents will be able to review the materials and provide comments until April 8th through the project website.
Project leaders say community feedback is an important part of the environmental assessment process. The comments received will help guide the final Transportation Environmental Study Report, which will document the study findings and public consultation.
More details about the project and the online information session can be found on the project website.
