Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating an incident following an arrest in Lambton County.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Lambton County detachment arrested a person shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th in connection with an incident.
Police say that while the person was in custody, they required medical attention and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Because of the circumstances, the province’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit, has invoked its mandate and launched an investigation.
The Special Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating incidents involving police where there has been serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
Since the SIU is now handling the case, the OPP say they will not be providing any further information at this time.
