Police have arrested one person following a series of incidents across Lambton, Huron, and Perth counties on March 18, 2026.
Huron County OPP say they were first alerted by Lambton OPP about a threats investigation involving a man driving a minivan toward Huron County along Bluewater Highway.
Officers from several units, including OPP Aviation, the Emergency Response Team, and the K-9 unit, worked together to locate the suspect.
Police found the vehicle abandoned just south of Bayfield. Investigators say the suspect then broke into a nearby home and demanded car keys from the homeowner. The suspect drove off in a stolen car and travelled through several communities, including Bayfield, Clinton, Seaforth, and Dublin.
Police tried to stop the vehicle using tire deflation devices, but the attempts were not successful. The suspect was tracked by a police helicopter and officers on the ground.
Just before noon, officers were able to stop the vehicle on Base Line in the Municipality of Central Huron. The suspect ran from the vehicle but was quickly arrested.
As a precaution, the suspect was taken to hospital. No officers were injured, but there was some damage to a police vehicle and the stolen car.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police say the suspect, who is from Essex County, is expected to face several charges.
