A Lambton Shores man is celebrating a life-changing lottery win.
Mark Gatschene has won $1 million in the Gold Ball Draw from OLG’s LOTTO 6/49 on February 18, 2026.
The 65-year-old retiree said he has been playing the lottery for about 25 years. This is his first major win.
Mark found out about his prize while checking his ticket at a store. He said the screen showed he had won $1 million. His wife was shopping at the time, and he called her over to see it. The couple said they could hardly believe the news and felt “over the moon.”
Mark says he plans to use the money to buy a new car and upgrade his RV. He and his wife are also hoping to travel across Canada, including a possible trip to Banff National Park.
The winning ticket was purchased at Points Preference Supermarket on West Ipperwash Road in Kettle and Stony Point.
Officials with OLG remind players to play responsibly and say programs like PlaySmart are in place to help keep gambling safe and fun.
