A fun and competitive night of hockey is coming back to the community, all in support of a good cause.
Jenn Case, Sales Coordinator with Huron Tractor, says the charity hockey event started as a simple idea to raise money for the local food bank.
The event began with just two teams, but has quickly expanded over the past few years. More local businesses have joined in, creating friendly rivalries and strong community support. This year, even more teams are taking part, including companies like Jayden Mechanical, HMP, McCann, Baker Group, and Delta Power Equipment.
The event takes place on April 9th, with three games scheduled throughout the evening. Each game will feature three periods and plenty of action on the ice.
Residents are encouraged to come out, cheer on their favourite team, and enjoy the atmosphere. Admission is by donation, with people asked to bring a non-perishable food item or give what they can.
All proceeds will go to the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre. Organizers say teams have already raised about $10,000 before the puck even drops.
There will also be a 50/50 draw, a face painter, and refreshments available, making it a family-friendly event.
Case says the support from the community has been amazing and is what makes the event so special.
Organizers hope to expand the event even further in the future, and say more businesses are welcome to get involved. Everyone is invited to come out, enjoy a great night of hockey, and help support the local food bank.
