Get ready to eat your way around the world at the upcoming “Around the World in Central Huron” food event.
Organizer Angela Smith, Community Improvement Coordinator, says the event brings together local families to share their culture and favourite foods. This year’s event will feature 13 different booths, each representing a country from around the world.
Now in its second year, the event was inspired by a simple conversation. Smith says she met a newcomer to the area and realized how easy it is for people to feel isolated when others are unsure how to connect.
That moment led to the idea of creating a welcoming space where people could learn about each other through food.
Last year’s event saw a very strong turnout. Smith says the response was very positive, with many people enjoying the chance to try new foods in a relaxed and friendly setting.
This year, Smith is preparing for an even bigger crowd. The event will run on a first-come, first-served basis, with no tickets required. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to support the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation.
Smith says food is a simple way to bring people together. She hopes the event will help build connections, encourage understanding, and make everyone feel more welcome in the community.
There will also be local vendors on site, including Maelstrom Winery and Cowbell Brewing Co.
Organizers say guests are encouraged to come hungry, keep an open mind, and enjoy a fun and meaningful evening exploring cultures from around the world.
The event will take place Saturday, April 25th, 5:00PM – 8:00PM at the Central Huron Community Centre. Admission is by donation.
