Students across the Avon Maitland District School Board are gaining hands-on experience through a series of competitions hosted by Skills Ontario.
From Junk Drawer Races to the Skills Ontario Competition, students have been testing their skills at both regional and provincial levels. The events give students a chance to explore skilled trades and technology while representing their schools.
The Junk Drawer Races focus on elementary students, who are challenged to design and build creative projects using everyday household materials. The competition is divided by grade level and helps introduce young learners to basic engineering and trade skills.
At the regional competition, AMDSB students showed strong creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, earning impressive results across several categories in the Western Region.
