A 14-year-old pedestrian is recovering after being struck by a vehicle in Central Huron.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Ontario Street and Smith Street in Clinton just after 3:00 p.m. on April 22. Police say the teen was hit while using a crosswalk.
The youth was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to London with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver remained at the scene. Police say a 41-year-old from Huron East has since been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm, as well as failing to surrender a licence and vehicle permit.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Goderich.
Huron OPP are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Police are also reminding drivers to stay alert at crosswalks and in residential areas, especially near schools, and to make sure pedestrians have fully crossed before proceeding.
