Time for our daily look at Mental Health Week in Canada, presented by MTG North Games.
A local wellness practitioner is sharing how sound and energy healing can support mental health as part of Mental Health Week.
Cindy Waghorn, a Reiki Master Teacher and the founder of Surrender and Shine in St. Marys, says sound therapy works by helping the body return to balance.
Waghorn uses tools like tuning forks, singing bowls, and Reiki energy work in her sessions.
She says these methods can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and bring a sense of relaxation and clarity.
She adds that today’s fast-paced world can leave people feeling overwhelmed and disconnected.
Waghorn says her own journey with mental health challenges led her to Reiki and energy work, which she found helped her both physically and emotionally. That experience inspired her to help others through her business.
For those who may be unsure about trying energy healing, she suggests starting with curiosity and keeping an open mind.
As for Mental Health Week, Waghorn says raising awareness is important, but caring for mental health should be an ongoing focus.
She says the most important thing is to take care of yourself and never be afraid to talk to someone.
