Pop culture fans in Goderich will soon have a chance to experience their very own Comicon event, as the first-ever Huron County Comicon gets ready to take over the community later this month.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Columbus Club Hall. Admission is completely free.
Julia Barac, owner and founder of Huron County Comicon, says the event is designed to bring together all kinds of pop culture interests under one roof.
Barac says there will also be attractions at the event, including a Ghostbusters-themed Ecto tribute car for fans to check out.
The event is connected to the popular Bruce County Comicon, which has been running in Southampton for the past three years. Barac says organizers felt the time was right to bring a similar event to Huron County.
Vendor spaces for the event sold out shortly after registration opened in November, something organizers say shows strong community interest already.
Barac says the event is meant to be fun for the whole family, whether people are serious collectors, cosplay fans, or simply curious to see what Comicon is all about.
Barac is hopeful the event will become an annual tradition in Huron County if this year’s launch is successful.
