Work continues on South Huron’s Main Street reconstruction project, with crews making steady progress on underground infrastructure upgrades in Exeter.
The Municipality of South Huron says contractors completed the main sanitary sewer line installation last week and continued storm sewer work between Church Street and Hill Street.
This week, crews will continue installing sanitary service connections while storm sewer work moves toward Wellington Street. Road work is also set to begin, with excavation and the placement of granular road base starting at Church and Main Street.
Northbound traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane on Main Street, while southbound traffic will remain detoured along Church and William Streets until construction on the west side of Main Street is complete.
Municipal officials say businesses remain open during construction, and access to homes and businesses will continue to be maintained as much as possible.
Drivers are being reminded to expect delays and plan ahead while detours remain in place. The municipality is thanking residents and businesses for their patience and understanding as the project moves forward.
