Work continues on South Huron’s Main Street reconstruction project, with crews making steady progress on underground infrastructure and road improvements in Exeter.
The Municipality of South Huron says contractors spent last week installing sanitary services and storm sewer infrastructure between Hill Street and Wellington Street. Road construction also began on the west side of Main Street, including excavation work and the placement of a granular road base.
This week, crews will continue installing sanitary services and extend storm sewer work from Wellington Street to Victoria Street. Road construction activities are also expected to continue.
Traffic restrictions remain in place during construction. Northbound traffic will continue to use a single lane on Main Street, while southbound traffic will be detoured along Church Street and William Street until work on the west side of Main Street is finished.
Municipal officials say businesses remain open and access to homes and businesses will be maintained as much as possible throughout the project.
Drivers are being reminded to expect delays and plan ahead while detours remain in effect. The municipality is thanking residents and businesses for their continued patience and understanding as the work moves forward.
