The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) took place in Huron County on Wednesday, June 3rd, bringing together police, community members, and supporters in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
Members of the Huron County OPP joined forces with Special Olympics Ontario, along with family members, friends, and residents from across the county. The event helped raise awareness and funds for athletes involved in Special Olympics programs.
The Torch Run is known as the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness campaign for Special Olympics.
This year’s local effort raised more than $5,000.
The run began at Maitland River Community Church on Josephine Street in Wingham. Participants ran through Wingham and finished the first leg at the south end of town.
From there, runners were transported to Blyth, Clinton, and Goderich, where they continued spreading excitement and support in each community.
