In a Facebook post, the Municipality of South Huron announced that flags at South Huron Town Hall will be flown at half-mast to honour several first responders who recently passed away.
The municipality noted the loss of Tarun Bali, an Ontario Provincial Police constable who passed away in the line of duty earlier this week, as well as Marc Pinizzotto, a Toronto police constable who also passed away in the line of duty.
The post also recognized the passing of retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief Cam McLeod, who passed away Thursday morning following a lengthy illness.
McLeod retired from the South Huron Fire Department in 2011 after serving the community for 27 years.
Mayor George Finch expressed condolences on behalf of the municipality, saying each of the individuals dedicated themselves to keeping their communities safe.
“On behalf of the Municipality of South Huron, our thoughts are with the families of OPP Constable Bali, Toronto Police Constable Pinizzotto, and retired Exeter Fire Station District Chief McLeod. They each unselfishly served their fellow human beings with courage and pride.”
The municipality is encouraging residents to take a moment to remember and honour the contributions made by all three first responders.
