Construction continues along Main Street in Exeter, with crews making steady progress on underground infrastructure work last week.
The Municipality of South Huron says contractors completed the installation of the main storm sewer line last week and continued work on catch basins, storm services, and sanitary services.
Work will continue this week, with crews focusing on additional catch basin, storm service, and sanitary service installations. Road construction is also expected to continue, including excavation and the placement of granular road base to help maintain access through the construction zone.
Traffic restrictions remain in place. Northbound traffic will continue to use a single lane on Main Street, while southbound traffic is being detoured along Church Street and William Street until work on the west side of Main Street is complete.
Municipal officials say businesses remain open during construction and access to homes and businesses will continue to be maintained as much as possible.
Residents and visitors are being reminded to expect delays, follow detour routes, and allow extra travel time while the project continues.
The Municipality thanked the public for its patience and cooperation throughout the construction process.
