Drivers travelling through Grand Bend will soon see fewer traffic disruptions as work on the Grand Bend Bridge reaches another major milestone.
The Municipality of Lambton Shores says all traffic lanes on the bridge are expected to reopen today, earlier than originally planned. Officials credit the progress to the hard work completed by construction crews over the past several weeks.
While vehicle traffic will return to normal, work on the west-side sidewalk is still ongoing. That section of the sidewalk will remain closed through the weekend.
Motorists should also be aware that temporary lane closures will be in place on June 29th and June 30th while crews complete sidewalk work and clean-up activities on the west side of the bridge.
Any remaining finishing touches on the project will be completed in the fall, with work expected to resume after Labour Day.
Project officials are thanking residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and understanding throughout the construction process.
