One of Ontario’s largest Canada Day celebrations is set to return to Grand Bend Beach on July 1st, with organizers promising a full day of entertainment capped off by a spectacular fireworks show.
Paul Rivard, president of the Grand Bend Optimist Club and a member of the Canada Day organizing committee, says support from local businesses, donors, and grant programs has helped make this one of the strongest fundraising years yet.
The celebration will feature a diverse lineup of entertainment on the main stage beginning at 2 p.m.
The evening will also feature the winner of the Beachfest Karaoke Idol competition, who will perform “O Canada” just before the fireworks begin.
Grand Bend’s Canada Day festivities have become known as one of the largest celebrations in the province. Rivard said attendance has continued to grow in recent years.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, as parking and viewing areas fill up quickly. The celebration attracts thousands of people to the beach, surrounding parks, and waterfront, while many others watch from boats anchored offshore.
Organizers are also looking for volunteers to help with the event. Duties include greeting visitors, handing out Canadian flags, and assisting with various activities throughout the day.
Rivard says the event would not be possible without the support of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners.
