Applications are now open for the 2026 Starter Company Plus program, giving aspiring and existing business owners in Huron County the chance to receive training, mentorship, and up to $5,000 in grant funding.
The program is offered by the County of Huron in partnership with the Province of Ontario and is designed to help people start a new business, expand an existing one, or purchase a business.
Participants will receive business training from industry experts through a mix of in-person and online sessions. They will also work one-on-one with an experienced Business Advisor, receive mentorship opportunities, build a business plan and cash flow projections, and connect with other local entrepreneurs.
At the end of the program, participants will present their business plan to a grant review committee for the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in funding. A total of $35,000 in grants will be awarded through the 2026 program.
Applications are being accepted throughout the month of July. Because space is limited, admission is competitive and not all applicants will be accepted. Business Advisors will interview selected applicants before final decisions are made.
Successful participants will begin the program in September with business training running through November. Grant recipients will continue working with Business Advisors after the program to help support the growth of their businesses.
The program is open to eligible entrepreneurs who are 18 years of age or older, out of school, and planning to start, buy, or expand a business in Huron County.
More information about eligibility requirements and the application process is available through the Huron Business Centre.
