Construction continues to move ahead on Main Street in Exeter as crews make progress on the road reconstruction project.
The Municipality of South Huron says contractors completed the installation of catch basins, storm services, and sanitary services on the west side of Main Street last week. Crews also continued road work by excavating the roadway and placing a granular road base.
This week, work will continue on the west side of Main Street as crews prepare the area for new concrete curbs.
Drivers should be aware that the intersection of Victoria Street and Main Street will be closed today and tomorrow (July 6th and 7th) while crews complete road excavation and install the granular base in the intersection.
Traffic restrictions remain in place throughout the project. Northbound traffic will continue to use a single lane on Main Street, while southbound traffic will be detoured along Church Street and William Street until work on the west side of Main Street is complete.
The Municipality says businesses remain open during construction, and access to homes and businesses will continue to be maintained as much as possible.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, expect delays, and follow all posted detour signs. Municipal officials are thanking residents, businesses, and visitors for their continued patience and cooperation while the project moves forward.
