The Municipality of Bluewater has announced that the expansion of the Bayfield Wastewater Treatment Plant is nearly complete, marking an important step toward supporting future growth in the community.
The project has reached substantial completion, meaning the major construction work is finished and the upgraded facility is now fully operational. The expanded plant has completed testing and is ready to treat additional wastewater.
Construction on the project began in November 2024.
Before the expansion, the Bayfield Wastewater Treatment Facility was operating above its intended capacity, limiting new residential development in the area. The larger facility will now allow for future growth and help meet housing demand in Bayfield.
