The Huron County Fire Mutual Aid Association says there is currently no fire ban in place across Huron County.
However, due to ongoing wildfire smoke, poor air quality, and very dry conditions, fire officials are asking residents to use extra caution.
Open-air agricultural burns are strongly discouraged at this time. Recreational campfires are still allowed, but residents are reminded to follow safe burning practices.
Anyone having a recreational fire should never leave it unattended, keep water or a fire extinguisher nearby, fully put out the fire before leaving, and avoid burning during windy conditions.
Fire officials say conditions can change quickly and residents should continue to monitor updates from their local municipality.
They are thanking residents for helping reduce the risk of preventable fires and keeping the community safe.
