The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health is asking the community to help recognize the people who spend their time caring for others.
Project coordinator Sophia Buckman says the awards are meant to thank caregivers for the important work they do every day.
The organization is now accepting nominations for its Care and Compassion Awards, which will be presented at a caregiver recognition event in September.
Anyone can be nominated, including nurses, doctors, personal support workers, or family members and friends who care for a loved one.
Buckman says caregivers often put the needs of others before their own and can sometimes feel overlooked. She hopes the awards will help them feel appreciated and recognized for everything they do.
Buckman says it is so important to continue to recognize the caregivers in our community, not just with the awards, but in every day life.
Nominations are open until August 1st. People can submit a nomination through the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health website or by calling 519-612-1053. Anyone with questions can also email sophia@gatewayruralhealth.ca.
