The Ontario government is investing more than $145,000 in community programs across Huron County to support seniors, help victims of crime, and encourage rural growth.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the funding will help improve the quality of life for people across the county.
The Township of North Huron is receiving $55,000 through the Senior Active Living Centre Program. The funding will support programs in Wingham and Blyth, including hot meals, fitness classes, wellness activities, and educational sessions for seniors.
The Township of Howick will receive more than $16,800 through the Rural Ontario Development Program to help with its Community Improvement and Beautification Plan.
Victim Services of Huron Perth is receiving $32,500 to help staff and volunteers continue providing crisis support for victims and survivors of crime.
REACH Huron has been awarded more than $15,700 for its “Eat Well, Live Well Together” program. The project will offer cooking classes that bring seniors together to learn healthy eating skills while building social connections.
The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health is receiving nearly $25,000 for its “Connect Along the Shore” program. The initiative will help seniors stay connected through phone, virtual, and in-person activities while expanding technology programs and wellness supports in rural communities.
