A Special Weather Statement is in effect for Exeter, Goderich, Bluewater and southern Huron County.
Environment Canada says localized heavy rainfall is possible this afternoon, with more than 50 millimetres of rain possible in some areas.
Some parts of the area have already received 50 to 100 millimetres of rain this morning.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into this afternoon and evening. Heavy rain could lead to water pooling on roads, poor visibility and flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Residents are being reminded to monitor weather alerts and forecasts as conditions change.
