Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron is asking the community to help local children get ready for the new school year.
Mentoring Coordinator Meghan Hartman says about 76 children have already registered for the program, and more are expected to sign up before the August 18th deadline.
New items are preferred, but gently used items will also be accepted.
The group originally hoped to collect 50 backpacks, but Hartman says the need keeps growing.
Hartman says even small donations can make a difference and help children start the school year on the right foot.
Anyone who needs help getting school supplies for their child can contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron at 519-235-1780, extension 2.
Donations can be dropped off at the Little Shop until August 18th.
Big Brothers Big Sisters also works with the Salvation Army in communities including Clinton, Seaforth, Goderich, Exeter, Zurich and Wingham to make sure children across the service area receive the help they need.
