Turtle lovers can learn more about Ontario’s native species at an upcoming event at the Lambton Heritage Museum.
The museum will host “Turtles of Ontario: Shell-ebrating Our Native Species” today, from 7 to 8 p.m.
The presentation is part of the museum’s Speaker Series, which connects with its current exhibition, Bluewaterland: Dive Into the Depths.
Cassie Greidanus from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will talk about Ontario’s native turtles, their role in the environment, and some of the dangers they face.
Guests will also have a chance to get a closer look at turtle shells, models, and other items during the presentation.
The event will be held in person at the museum, and space is limited. Registration is required, with regular museum admission applying.
The Bluewaterland exhibition explores the connection between Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, and Lambton County. It features displays about shipwrecks, early navigation, swimming, fishing, surfing, and other activities connected to the water.
The exhibit will be on display until October 18th.
More information about the exhibition and upcoming events is available through the Lambton Heritage Museum.
