Salt Fest is returning to Goderich for its fourth year, bringing four days of music, food, family activities and celebrations.
Andrew Bouck, the Town of Goderich’s Tourism, Events and Marketing Coordinator, says the festival will celebrate the community and its connection to the salt industry.
The fun begins Thursday with a free concert featuring Sal’s Alley at 7 p.m.
Bouck says the salt mine is an important part of Goderich’s history and identity, helping put the community on the map and providing jobs for local residents.
On Friday, visitors can enjoy the Food Truck Village and a special tribute concert celebrating the music of the Spice Girls and Britney Spears.
Saturday will be packed with family fun, including inflatables, a petting zoo, wagon rides and food trucks. Later that evening, six local bands will take part in the first-ever Salt Fest Battle of the Bands. Retrospect will headline the night.
Sunday will offer a more relaxed day, with the petting zoo and inflatables returning for families to enjoy.
New this year are Salt History Walks at the main beach on Saturday and Sunday. People interested in taking part will need to register ahead of time.
Visitors can also stop by the tourism information booth to try the popular virtual reality salt experience.
Salt Fest events are planned to go ahead rain or shine, although organizers say updates will be shared if the weather causes any changes.
Bouck says he is looking forward to seeing the community come together over the four-day celebration and welcoming visitors to experience everything Goderich has to offer.
