Canada’s new retaliatory tariffs on American goods are now in effect, targeting a wide range of products in response to the latest U.S. trade measures.
Dairy products face some of the highest levies, including a 50 per cent tariff on various milk, cream and protein products, while fresh cheese and curd face a 25 per cent tariff.
Ottawa is also applying tariffs of up to 50 per cent on U.S. wood and paper products, steel, aluminum and copper, along with clothing, cosmetics and textiles. Other products facing new tariffs include smartphones, golf equipment, video game consoles, appliances, plastics, motorcycles and some recreational equipment.
