An Exeter husband-and-wife team is heading to Nova Scotia to compete for a Canadian National Championship.
Matt and Karly Dietrich, along with Matt’s brother Mark Dietrich and his wife Jessica Bickell, have qualified for the PGA Scramble National Final Presented by BMW.
The team earned its spot after winning the Northeastern Ontario Regional Final at The Ridge at Manitou in Parry Sound. They will now travel to Cabot Links Golf Course in Inverness, Nova Scotia, for the national final in October.
Matt says the team had a strong finish during the regional final, including two eagles in a row.
Karly says emotions were running wild.
The team first qualified for the regional tournament by winning a local event at Muskoka Bay Resort earlier this summer. The four decided to enter while they were vacationing in the area.
The Dietrich family is now preparing to compete against teams from across the country and represent Exeter and South Huron on the national stage.
The PGA Scramble uses a team format and considers each golfer’s handicap when calculating the final score. This means golfers of different skill levels can compete together.
More than 190 local qualifiers took part across Canada in 2026, giving teams from communities across the country a chance to reach the national final.
Karly says playing at Cabot Links has been on her bucket list for years.
She mentioned it’s pretty special to represent Exeter on a stage like this.
