As part of 90.5 myFM’s 2026 Election Coverage, myFM reached out to candidates in South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton Shores and Lucan-Biddulph to hear why they believe residents should vote for them on October 26th.
Here’s what Laura Susan Goulding, running for Ward 2 in South Huron had to say. Laura opted to send myFM a written statement.
“Let me introduce myself, my name is Laura Goulding and I am running in the Exeter Ward of South Huron.
I’m running because I believe in equitable representation that supports our growing and diverse community. I advocate for community representation from all wards. I think there should be robust debate that allows for collaboration and well considered decision making that is in the overall best interest of all of us that have chosen to call the communities of South Huron home.
Since 2010 I’ve made Exeter my home. In that time I’ve had the good fortune to meet and work with incredible people that make the region run economically and as a community.
I have worked with businesses through my time at the Exeter BIA and continue to proudly cheerlead for our business community. I know that our local businesses are the backbone of so much of what is able to happen within South Huron and supporting these businesses remains a continuing passion long after my time at the BIA. Shopping local isn’t a tagline, it is one of the primary keys to a healthy community where the needs of the residents can be met.
I know that our foundation is built on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and not-for-profit groups. Ensuring that they are supported is of the utmost importance. As a member of the South Huron Optimist Club as well as the South Huron Community Fund and the Exeter Rodeo I see what a group of like minded volunteers can do when they have the drive and desire to make it happen.
Whether it’s a rodeo, a Santa Claus parade, Easter egg hunts, community thrift stores or food bank food drives, free community meals and so much more it is volunteers that make it happen. I believe in celebrating these individuals and groups and creating an environment that they can grow in.
I also feel strongly about keeping the environment in the conversation. Our world is changing and all levels of government including the municipal level must ensure this concern remains a part of the conversation as we plan, strategize and work towards securing the best opportunity for our children’s future.
If the above speaks to your vision follow along as we head towards the 2026 South Huron Municipal Election in October.”
