As part of 90.5 myFM’s 2026 Election Coverage, myFM reached out to candidates in South Huron, Bluewater, Lambton Shores and Lucan-Biddulph to hear why they believe residents should vote for them on October 26th.
Here’s what Joey Groot, running for Hay East Ward in Bluewater had to say.

“Hi, I am Joey Groot. I am seeking re-election in the ward of Hay East in the Municipality of Bluewater.
I am running for Council for the purpose of being involved in the decisions that can impact the future of Bluewater and how it looks for all constituents as well as my own family and myself. I believe my past term had prepared me for what could come at us in the next term, by having acquired a better understanding of how and why things work.
I believe one of the biggest issues for our community to face will be the balancing of infrastructure needs to our tax base while considering future development and where the money is flowing from.
I feel that the experience I have gained through industry, agriculture, current council and living and raising a family within the Bluewater has helped me to become a strong candidate to vote for in the upcoming election. Thanks.”
