High school football takes centre stage across Norfolk County today, with four matchups scheduled, including the annual rivalry game between Delhi District Secondary School and Simcoe Composite School.
The two schools will meet in the Mud Jug Game, with kickoff scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Simcoe Composite School.
The annual matchup dates back decades, with the Mud Jug trophy, a stoneware jug and accompanying plaque, awarded to the winning team every year since 1970.
The game has become a longstanding tradition for both schools, representing more than just competition on the football field.
It is also an opportunity for students, alumni and the wider community to celebrate school pride and local sports history.
Another notable matchup takes place this morning as Cayuga Secondary School visits Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School at 11 a.m. for the Every Child Matters Game.
The remaining two games are scheduled for this afternoon, with Waterford High School travelling to Holy Trinity Catholic High School for a 2:45 p.m. kickoff.
Valley Heights Secondary School will also be on the road, taking on McKinnon Park Secondary School at the same time.
