Work on Exeter’s Main Street construction project is moving forward, with crews finishing another important step in the work.
The Municipality of South Huron says the contractor has completed the installation of the watermain, services and road base on the east side of Main Street.
The next steps include testing the new watermain before connecting it to the existing system. If everything goes as planned, crews could begin transferring water services and connecting the new watermain as early as this week.
Curb installation on the east side of Main Street is also expected to begin this week.
One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open while work continues on the east side of the road. Local businesses remain open during construction, and access to homes and businesses will be maintained as much as possible. Drivers are asked to plan for delays and allow extra time when travelling through the construction area.
The municipality is thanking residents and businesses for their patience as work continues to improve Main Street.
