It’s Crabby Joe’s game day! The Exeter Hawks face off against Mount Brydges tonight at 8pm at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter.
Playing for his hometown hockey team is a special experience for Exeter Hawks forward Jayce Durand.
The left winger, who wears number nine, is in his fourth season with the Hawks and says representing his hometown makes every season meaningful.
Durand grew up playing hockey after his parents introduced him to the sport. He spent four years with the Huron-Perth Lakers to begin his junior career before returning to South Huron, where he won a championship before joining the Hawks.
Durand says the team has a close bond, with players getting along well both on and off the ice.
With the season still in its early stages, Durand says consistency will be important as the team looks to build momentum.
He says the support from local fans has been strong early in the season, with the South Huron Recreation Centre nearly at capacity for a recent game.
He also has a message for Hawks fans a head of tonight’s game.
Go and cheer on your hometown Hawks! Come before or after the game and fuel up at Crabby Joe’s in Exeter!
