Horsepower Haven is getting into the Halloween spirit while raising money to help its growing outreach program.
The organization is hosting a Masquerade Gala October 30th at MontHill Golf and Country Club, with proceeds supporting its programs and plans for a larger space.
Horsepower Haven is a Christian-based outreach serving young men in Haldimand, Norfolk and Six Nations. It uses cars and mentorship to connect with those facing challenges involving school, addiction, mental health or simply needing someone to talk to.
Founder Brandon Goodfellow said the program has grown beyond his original expectations.
Horsepower Haven has also built a growing team of mentors, including licensed mechanics and in-house psychotherapists.
That support is becoming important as colder weather highlights how crowded the current shop has become.
Goodfellow said the vehicles help create connections, but supporting young men always comes first.
The gala will also give guests a chance to hear firsthand about the impact Horsepower Haven is having. Goodfellow says one of the young men in the program volunteered to speak.
The Masquerade will feature dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and speeches, with money raised helping Horsepower Haven continue growing alongside the young men it supports.
