Lambton Shores incumbent Mayor Doug Cook is thanking residents after losing Monday night’s mayoral race in the 2026 municipal election.
Cook says he is grateful for the support he received during his time on council.
He says he has no hard feelings about the election results and understands residents are looking for change, with five new councillors joining council for the 2026-2030 term.
Looking back on his time in municipal politics, Cook says one of the biggest lessons he learned was the importance of working with others.
As he looks ahead, Cook says he plans to continue running his wine business and spend more time travelling with his wife.
Cook says he is thankful for the chance to serve Lambton Shores and is ready for this next chapter.
