Coming up on Friday at 7:30 PM. the St. James Anglican Church in Stratford is hosting a regional memorial service for missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
The service will include traditional Indigenous dancers, drumming and songs, as well as storytelling by and about Indigenous women.
Deacon at St. James Anglican Church in Stratford, Tom Patterson says the event is a way to honour all the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
Patterson says the event is an opportunity to offer prayer for the victims, while getting more informed about the crisis that’s been going on for a number of years.
Patterson says it is important for the church to host an event like this because of their role in Residential schools.
There is no cost to attend the event which takes place at the church located at the corner of Hamilton and Mornington Street, but a free will offering which will go to the Native Women’s Association of Canada.
