As another long weekend approaches many residents are wondering what businesses are open and which ones are closed. Closed are banks, municipal offices, the library, the beer store in Exeter and the LCBO in Exeter. Mail services will also not be running.

Drinking and boating accounts for roughly 40% of deaths on Canadian waterways, and because of this the OPP are once again joining forces with the Canadian Safe Boating Council to launch Operation Dry Water.

BEACHES LOOK GOOD FOR THE LONG WEEKEND

There aren't any swimming advisories in effect for the region heading into the long weekend. That being said beaches in Port Albert, Main Beach in Goderich, Black's Point, Houston Heights, and St Joseph, beach all tested over the provincial bacterial standard for E. coli on July 27th.

LOCAL BASEBALL TEAMS HOST CHICAGO

The Western Ontario Baseball Association Ontario Summer Games Bantam boys? team will be playing a game against the Chicago Renegades at Alvin Willert Diamond. The Bantam team plays at 4 PM, while the WOBA AAA Bulls bantam boys tournament team plays Chicago at 6 PM.

GODERICH BIA HONOURS TIRELESS VOLUNTEER

The Goderich Business Improvement Area Board has chosen to honour a tireless civic volunteer's memory with a park bench dedicated in his name. Peter Lane was the inspiration behind the BIA Farmers' Market and Flea Market, and perished in a diving accident earlier this year.
