The Ontario budget was released on Thursday. Some highlights of the budget include $465 million dollars a year in a pharmacare program, free abortion pills, an OSAP initiative that would see lenders not owing anything until they make $35 thousand a year, career planning and affordable housing.

The South Huron Mayors Breakfast event is back for another year. This year's breakfast takes place on Tuesday, May 2rd between 7:30 AM until 9:30 AM at the Exeter Legion. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Joan Brady says than an event like this is incredibly important for the community.

SIU INVESTIGATING FOLLOWING A LOCAL INCIDENT

The province's Special Investigations Unit is investigating after an incident early Tuesday between Perth OPP and a suspect. Police say that around 12:15 AM officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 23 near Bornholm, and the driver fled from police.

The Huron County Alzheimers Society is bringing back their spring Mind in Motion sessions. The 8-week sessions cost $20 per person, and the program is 2 hours long and is for those living with dementia and their partners.

STAGGERING LOSS OF LIFE NUMBERS PROVIDED BY THE OPP

The OPP has firmed up 2016 traffic data which unfortunately reveals increases in many fatality categories. Last year a total of 307 people were killed in motor vehicle collisions marking a four-year high.
