Known as Mr. Spock to fans all over the world, Leonard Nimoy has died at 83. The New York Times reports the actor died at his home in Bel Air California Friday morning.

For the second straight winter, bitterly cold temperatures threaten to turn the surface of Lake Huron into a vast frozen plain. Officials say the surface of Lake Huron is now covered over by 94 per cent ice and the ice cover on the five Great Lakes has almost doubled over the past couple of weeks.

Local students are being encouraged to clear a pathway to a fire hydrant within South Huron to make up their community hours for graduation. To receive their high school diploma, students must complete 40 hours of community service.
